SA Jews in Boer War: Public Records Office - Listing Boer prisoners of war, 11 Oct 1899-31 May 1902, London, England. Father-in-law of A Segal (q.v.). Captured and sent to Ceylon. The notation reads -"Steyn, Solomon. 37 years. Captured at Viljoenskroon November 9, 1900. Jew. Burgh."
King Edward sent a letter to Solomon in 1903 where he wrote, "His Majesty hereby pardons you for being a rebel."
