Biography. Sydney & Carmen were members of Durban United Hebrew Congregation of Durban until 1973. They then joined Temple
David, Durban in September 1973 where Sydney remained a member for 28 years until his death in 2001. He was President of Temple David from 1992 to 1996. Sydney was a member of the Chevra for 35+ years, Chairman of Temple David Chevra from 1990-1999 and was given Honorary Life Membership in 1999. He was a great sportsman in his 20's and played cricket for East Griqualand as well as representing Natal as a sprinter, competed in the SA Championships until he was injured in 1937 and had to retire from running.
Carmen was secretary to Rabbi Dr Abner Weiss (now in the USA) during the 1960's and joined Sydney when he opened his wholesale business Sydney Fobb (Pty) Ltd in 1971.

Sydney was a member of numerous Masonic Lodges including The Lodge of Israel & Chapter of Israel for The Royal Arch, for 52 years and in this photo instated as 3rd Grand Principal of the District of Natal 9.8.1997 and photo as Chairman of Temple David.

Sydney married Carmen AARONS, daughter of Joseph Hassell AARONS and Annie Sarah CASTLE, on 28 Jul 1940 in Durban, Natal, South Africa. (Carmen AARONS was born on 18 Jun 1920 in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa, died on 15 Jun 1989 in Durban, Natal, South Africa and was buried in Durban Reform, Redhill Cemetery.). The cause of her death was Cancer.
