• Immigrated, After 1888, Lithuania. Left Ireland after fathers death.

• Name Change. Found on a 1915 Jewish Geneology listing as Max Kitay having been adopted by Moshe Meyer, his mothers second husband. They had already left for South Africa thus avoiding conscription to the Russian army.

Avoidance lists were based on birth records or revision lists. If someone had emigrated or otherwise absented themselves since the last such list, then they would not appear for enlistment, which would earn them a spot on an avoidance list dated 1915.

• Immigrated, 8 Nov 1902, South Africa. Found listed on Poor Jews' Temporary Shelter age 17, leaving for Africa.

Max married Minnie JABKOVITZ, daughter of Yezakel JABKOVITZ and Sarah FRAME, in 1923 in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa. (Minnie JABKOVITZ was born on 9 Sep 1898 in Lithuania, died on 14 Mar 1957 in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa and was buried in Pretoria North Cemetery, Pretoria.)
